12/17/2023 0 Comments Warmachine cygnar battle group![]() ![]() These lists are all about ‘mitigating’ incoming dice. Even though I was throwing a high volume of attacks/hits/wounds out with my gun line, all of those wounds were ignored one way or another (Jinks, cover saves, armor saves, invulnerable saves, many with re-rolls). Competitive W40K comes completely down to ‘dice management.’ Minimizing the incoming dice is the primary tactic I didn’t have a good answer to.Especially games 1 (Chaos demons Jinking like crazy) and 4 (Eldar with 3+ armor & invulnerable saves). My thoughts (as a total n00b, what I learned): I still learned a lot… I definitely have to tweak my list! I think I removed maybe 3 wraithguard and 2 jetbikes by the bottom of turn 4. While I lost, I (barely) took out the Scorpion, and I ALMOST took out the Wraight Knight (got him down to 1 wound) right before the knight laid the assault beat down on my plasma-cutioner and punisher Leman Russ squadron. Noah is super cool, we we’re having beers, joking around, and had a great game. Without ignore cover, I just couldn’t land any significant wounds. Chaos can re-roll ones, and the Jink save was a 3up (night fight) and then a 4up… So each wound only had a 33% chance of landing, and each Chariot is both a armor 12 vehicle AND a multi-would model. I played Eldar twice and Chaos Demons once.I only played 3 of the 4 games in the friendly tournament (the blending class overlapped game 3).I spend 99% of my energy on the hobby/painting side.I’m a total scrub at W40K games, only playing a few games a year. They are more than willing and ready to defend themselves and their beloved kingdom from those who would crush the principles of freedom and all for which Cygnar stands.I finally went to my first ‘national’ level tournament. Even after massive losses over the past campaign season, so many of them are still eager to take up arms and fight despite the risks. In truth, the Cygnaran spirit resting in the hearts of its soldiers is the military’s true strength. Their foundries produce more weapons, warjacks, alchemical components, and material to support the war effort, and goods and rare materials throughout the kingdom are now rationed for the military. It would seem that war is changing the pace of Cygnar’s technology as swiftly as it is changing the pace of its people. As new warjacks trundle off assembly lines, mechaniks find themselves forced to implement alterations in the field to suit the conditions of combat. The Royal Navy too is peerless in its might because of mechanika support for its ships, and it has become crucial in preventing incursions from the sea in recent times. Their advanced technology is evident in the varied strengths of their troops from specialty forces such as the fabled Stormblades and units of gun mages down to trencher and long gunner infantry. Many say that Cygnar’s vanguard is their advanced mechanika indeed, the nation is unequaled in the synthesis of magic and science. Younger and younger recruits enlist each day, and the training period for infantry has intensified. However, as the Crown calls for recruits and rewards the valiant with gold coin and commissions earned in service, the ominous pressures of a war on many fronts drains the nation’s coffers. Forged on the anvil of war,Ĭygnar’s military forces grow more experienced with each passing day. Now Cygnar’s proud military, seasoned by bloody warfare, protects the nation from the wolves of Khador, the pious fires of the Protectorate of Menoth, and the undying legions of Cryx. Cygnar is a protector of its people at odds with many forces that seek its strength and prosperity for their own. Strife and turmoil, blood and sweat, gun smoke and blazing arcane fire: all of these accompany the blue and gold banner of the Cygnus into battle.
